미국 University of California, Berkelery에서 건축학과 학사학위를, 미국 Parsons The New School for Design에서 패션디자인학과 학사학위를 취득하고, 서울대학교 대학원 의류학과에서 박사학위를 취득했다. 미국 뉴욕의 Michael Kors를 비롯하여 다수의 국내외 패션기업에서 패션디자이너로 활동하였으며 SADI 패션디자인학과 교수를 역임했다. 학제간의 융합교육에 관심을 가지고 공학 분야, 타 디자인분야와의 다양한 융복합프로젝트에 참여하고 있으며, 지속가능한 디자인 연구인 ‘geesoc’ 프로젝트를 DDP 서울라이트 행사에서 기획하였다. 현재 의상디자인, 패션내러티브 등을 강의하고 있다.

Acquired a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of California, Berkelery, a bachelor’s degree in fashion design from Parsons The New School for Design, and a doctorate from Graduate School of Seoul National University. Worked as a fashion designer at several domestic and international fashion companies, including Michael Kors in New York, USA, and served as a professor at the Department of Fashion Design at SADI. With an interest in interdisciplinary convergence education, participating in various convergence projects with engineering and other design fields, and directed the ‘geesoc’ project, a sustainable design project, at the DDP Seoul Light event. 서울대학교 의류학과에서 학사학위를, 미국 뉴욕주립대학교 FIT에서 AAS를 취득했으며 서울대학교 대학원에서 석사, 박사학위를 취득했다. 삼성물산(주)을 비롯하여 다수의 국내기업에서 패션디자이너로 활동하였으며 SADI 패션디자인학과 교수를 역임했다. 미학적 사고를 조형적 기법으로 표현해내는 실험을 통해 국내외 여러 패션아트전시를 기획하거나 참여하고 있으며, 패션에 나타난 문화, 예술, 역사, 개념 등 다양한 영감의 근원을 고찰하여 연구와 교육에 접목하고 있다. 2021년 (사)한국패션문화협회 회장을 역임했으며, 2025년부터 (사)한국패션디자인학회 회장으로 활동하고 있다. 저서로는 ‘패션디자이너의 도식화(2012)’, ‘패션디자인활용(2017, 공저)’, ‘크리에이티브 패션디자인(2024, 공저)’이 있다.

Acquired a bachelor’s degree from the Dept. of Textiles, Merchandising and Fashion Design, Seoul National University, AAS from FIT, State University of New York, USA, master’s and doctor’s degrees from Graduate School of Seoul National University. Worked as a fashion designer with many domestic companies including Samsung Corporate and as a professor at the Dept. of Fashion Design, SADI. Has planed and participated in many fashion art exhibitions through experiments expressing aesthetical ideas with formative techniques and grafted various sources of inspiration including culture, art, history and concept in fashion onto research and education. Served as the president of the FCA in 2021 and has been serving as the president of the KSFD since 2025. Published books ‘Flat Sketches for Fashion Designers(2012)’, ‘Fashion Design Application(2017, co-authored)’ and ‘Creative Fashion Design(2024, co-authored)’.

서울대학교에서 의류학과에서 학사학위를, 동대학원에서 석사, 박사학위를 취득하고, 다수의 패션기업에서 상품기획, 마케팅, 컨설팅 등의 실무를 담당했다. 이후 미국 Iowa State University에서 post-doctoral course로 리서치를 진행했고, Kent State University의 The Fashion School에서 Fashion Merchandising 전공교수를 역임했다. 현재 패션 브랜딩, 패션 머천다이징 등을 강의하고 있으며, 패션산업의 환경변화에 대한 소비자 중심적 대응 마케팅 전략에 관한 연구가 Psychology & Marketing, International Journal of Electronic Commerce, Clothing & Textiles Research Journal 등의 SSCI 학술지에 게재되었다.
